There has been bipartisan support for protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge ever since Republican President Dwight Eisenhower led the effort to protect the area in 1960. That tradition continues today as Rep. LoBiondo has signed on to co-sponsor the Udall-Eisenhower Arctic Wilderness Act, which would designate the Arctic Refuge's Coastal Plain as Wilderness.
