VIDEO: Meet the Locals Who Saved Paradise Valley

When Erica Lighthiser, Michelle Uberuaga, and Dale Sexton learned about an industrial scale gold mining proposal in Paradise Valley, Montana, they took action.
Determined to protect the place they love, local business leaders and Conservation Alliance grantee Park County Environmental Council set a goal of passing legislation to protect the gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Four years later, Congress passed the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act that permanently protects 30,370 acres from future mining.
Erica, Michelle, and Dale take us on a backcountry ski tour to the heart of the newly protected landscape to show us what was at stake, and what will remain for future generations.
