To protect at least five percent (appx. 5,100 km2) of the Great Bear Sea in 2017 as effectively-regulated Marine Protected Areas designated by First Nations, provincial and federal governments, with the long-term goal to protect a minimum of ten percent (appx. 10,200 km2) by 2020, and at least 30 percent (appx. 30,600 km2) by 2025.
