Protection for 27,000 acres of sacred lands – traditionally known as Bahsahwahbee (“Sacred Water Valley”) or locally as Swamp Cedars — with a National Monument managed by the National Park Service while also ensuring that the Tribes can work with the Bureau of Land Management on co-stewardship efforts outside of the Monument’s boundaries, which encompasses an area spanning hundreds of thousands of acres.
