RESTORE: The North Woods is a nonprofit organization working to restore, preserve, and defend the natural integrity of the North Woods of the United States and Canada through advocacy, public awareness, and citizen action. Founded in 1992 by veteran conservationists and grassroots activists, RESTORE has collaborated with diverse interests and gained the support of thousands of individuals, organizations, and businesses across Maine, New England, and North America. The organization has been at the forefront of groundbreaking efforts to restore the eastern wolf, Atlantic salmon, Canada lynx, and other endangered species; protect the wild nature of Allagash Wilderness Waterway; add critical lands to Baxter State Park; and build public support to create a magnificent Maine Woods National Park & Preserve.
