John Muir Land Trust has completed the 281-acre Almond Ranch acquisition near Martinez, CA. This property is one of two “missing pieces” needed to complete the 50-mile Carquinez Strait Scenic Trail. Almond Ranch is also a key acquisition that brings the visionary Bay Area Ridge Trail—a 550-mile loop that circumnavigates the entire San Francisco Bay—one step closer to completion. Almond Ranch is adjacent to two other properties acquired by John Muir Land Trust along Franklin Ridge, and includes an 800-ft peak, hilly grasslands, forested valleys, and riparian areas. John Muir Land Trust is working to open this area to hikers, dog walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and equestrians in 2020.
