(July 24, 2026) – Today, The Conservation Alliance submitted a business sign-on letter urging the Administration to restore protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. Signed by more than 115 outdoor businesses, the letter underscores the importance of these iconic landscapes to Tribal Nations, local communities, outdoor recreation, and the outdoor economy.
Earlier this month, the Administration announced plans to reduce protections for nearly 3 million acres across Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. The decision reopens previously protected lands to potential development and threatens landscapes that support recreation, wildlife habitat, cultural resources, and local economies throughout the region.
In response, businesses from across the outdoor industry joined together to urge the Administration to reverse course. The letter emphasizes that protecting public lands is not only a conservation priority, but an economic one. Outdoor recreation contributes more than $1.2 trillion annually to the U.S. economy and supports millions of jobs, many of which rely on healthy, accessible public lands.
Businesses were organized by The Conservation Alliance through Brands for Public Lands, a coalition of businesses working together to defend public lands and waters through collective advocacy.
