Conservation faced serious political challenges, and we responded by contributing an all-time high $1.9 million to 55 conservation projects.
To secure lasting protections through the completion of the Recreation and Land Management Planning for Maine’s Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument with substantial engagement from local constituents and the Maine recreation community.
To protect 76 rivers, 655 river miles, and 209,600 acres of riverside lands in the Custer Gallatin and Helena‑Lewis and Clark National Forests in Montana by securing administrative protections and passing legislation.
I am writing to let you know that I have made the decision to transition out of my role at The Conservation Alliance. I do not make this decision lightly. This organization has provided me with the most meaningful work I can imagine over the past 23 years.
Congress passed a package of public lands bills today that protects nearly 2.5 million acres of public land and 676 miles of rivers throughout the US. The Natural Resources Management Act (S.47) also reauthorizes the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
Ahead of a government shutdown and the conclusion of the 115th congress, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle came together to pass the Natural Resources Act. This public lands package pushes eight Conservation Alliance priorities across the finish line, protecting more than two million acres of wild places, preserving 396 miles of river, and reauthorizing the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
