Areas of Focus

Working to maximize both our collective and individual impact in conserving federally managed lands and waters, Brands for Public Lands’ core areas of focus will include:

Stopping Wholesale Public Lands Sell-Off: The coalition will work to push back against any administrative, legislative, or judicial efforts to sell off or privatize large swathes of public lands outside of previously-established precedent to do so; in addition, the coalition will focus on more acute and immediate threats to public lands, including unwarranted workforce reductions.

Defending the Antiquities Act and National Monuments: B4PL will provide resources for coalition members to push back against efforts to shrink or eliminate national monuments, including: Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon (AZ); Bears Ears National Monument (UT); Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument  (UT); Chuckwalla National Monument (CA); Avi Kwa Ame National Monument (NV); Sáttítla Highlands National Monument (CA); and, Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument (CO).

Protecting Iconic Landscapes from Industrial Extraction: The coalition is also a place for businesses to rally for other well-known landscapes threatened by mining or other development. These locations include: Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness  (MN); D-1 Lands (AK); Tongass National Forest (AK); Bristol Bay (AK); and Thompson Divide (CO).
